SCOPE/Meals on Wheels provides and delivers balanced, nutritious meals to the elderly, disabled, and home-bound who have no reliable means of obtaining their daily food requirements. Our caring volunteers help alleviate the client's sense of isolation and worry and observe their physical condition.
In cooperation with community and county agencies, we identify those in need of this service. The Meals on Wheels program results in improved nutritional status for our clients of various socioeconomic backgrounds and gives them regular contact with the community.
Heart of Virginia Meals on Wheels combined with Senior Citizens of Prince Edward County, a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization, in February of 2002. SCOPE provides office space and support for MOW, while the meals are prepared by and delivered from Southside Community Hospital in Farmville.
