Fundraising
Benevolink is our new partner in fundraising!
What is Benevolink? Atlanta based Benevolink is a non-profit online site that enables non-profit organizations to earn funds that are donated by online merchants. You create a user account and login whenever you want to shop online. Link to any participating online merchant, such as Barnes and Noble, after logging in to Benevolink. This sends a message to Barnes and Noble to donate 5-7% of your online shopping total to SCOPE/MOW.
Click here to initially join Benevolink, click "give your earned funds" which allows you to "add a new charity." Type "meals on wheels, Farmville, Virginia 23901" into the search feature and a link to our organization will appear. Click the button and MOW will permanently become your Benevolink shopping beneficiary. You only create your user account 1 time, and you only have to designate us as your beneficiary quarterly. It really is that simple! Benevolink even provides videos for you to watch for help with the process.
Every time you want to shop online, if you remember to login at Benevolink and link to your favorite online merchant from their repository of merchants, MOW earns 5-7% of your shopping total. Again, the online MERCHANT pays the donation, you do NOT pay extra! MOW will receive the donations quarterly, but they accrue throughout the year so the more often you login to shop, the more often you donate to MOW. For help, please dial toll-free: 1-800-556-GIVE (4483), 9-5 (EST).
Finally, Benevolink does offer you the online opportunity to donate personal funds to MOW via credit card. To do so, click "Give With Your Credit Card," and follow the directions to make a tax-deductible donation. Using Benevolink to receive online donations means MOW does not pay stiff the banking fees that we would incur if we took donations directly into an online bank account. |
Chefs Food Festival
Another important fundraiser for SCOPE/MOW is the annual Chefs Food Festival. For more information, go to our CFF page.
Fundraisers & Donations
You too can help to provide and deliver balanced, nutritious meals to the elderly, disabled, and homebound. Just like the CRUISER CLUB (above, left) or the QUILT GUILD (below, left), you, your church, club or business can help Meals on Wheels serve those in need in the Heart of Virginia. Donations/ fundraising are vital to keeping the program in operation.
More than 80 percent of our funding comes from private (non-government) sources. While over 50 percent of our clients pay something for their meals, many pay a reduced fee, and the rest are unable to pay at all. The difference between what clients pay and the actual cost of service is made up for by donations and fundraising. We depend on you to keep the meals rolling.
Donations may be mailed to our mailing address, left. We also need volunteer drivers to deliver meals. If you would like to volunteer, please call (434) 392-8797 between 10:00 and 2:00, or email your inquiry.
