Some Details on the Duck Race

Duck Race To Benefit Meals On Wheels

Have fun, win a prize and help Meals On Wheels in the Farmville area at First Friday on June 6 when Sears presents a Duck Race for Meals on Wheels. The event (the ducks will race down the Appomattox River) will begin up stream and end at Riverside Park in Farmville in conjunction with First Friday, presented by the Farmville Jaycees and sponsor WFLO radio.

Come on down and hear the band Elusive Dream (80’s and today’s music) while enjoying food and beverages in a fun, family atmosphere, starting at 5:30 p.m. SCOPE/Meals On Wheels will be providing the food with hamburgers, hot dogs and barbecue, plus soft drinks and bottled water.

Grand prize for the winning duck will be a Char-Broil 2-burner gas grill, donated by Sears. Other prizes include: second place-Gift Package from Curves for Women, third place-Oil Change from B & G Auto and fourth place-Gift Card from Dairy Queen.

Ducks sell for $6 or you can buy two ducks for $10. Ducks (actually tickets - we keep the ducks) can be purchased at SCOPE/Meals On Wheels (505 Griffin Blvd.), Sears @ College Shops or Curves for Women in the Wal-Mart Shopping Center.

Assisting SCOPE/Meals On Wheels with the Duck Race will be the Friends of the Appomattox River. Questions?? Call 392-8797 and ask for Carolyn Spillman.
